Aventura Marão Clube – description

Aventura Marão Clube (AMC) is a non-profit association created in 1993 by a group of young people of Amarante (actually AMC has 480 members). The main objective is to promote a healthy way of life among the population (especially youth) and nowadays runs three different sections: Mountain Bikes, Canoeing and Fair Trade. AMC is always willing to participate in projects that will allow the development of skills/competences of its youth workers and raise awareness about the values and principles we stand for. Since 2009, we are organizing projects in the field of Non-Formal Education (more than 60 approved projects under Youth in Action, lifelong learning and Erasmus+) using several methods and techniques related to drama, theatre and dance as they are very good tools to enhance social and personal development of young people. We organize EVS, youth exchanges, training courses, local workshops and other initiatives that are connected to entrepreneurship and creativity, youth participation, human rights, sustainable development, fair trade and healthy lifestyles. Logistically and operationally AMC has lots of experience and excellent human and material conditions for the organization of projects in this area (60 approved projects in the last 5 years under Youth in Action and Erasmus+ programs).


The project is based on activism and environmental education, pushing society towards sustainable development and preservation of nature. In order to explain various environmental realities and their causes and effects, volunteers will focus on the disclosure of information in simple and engaging ways for different audiences.They will be organized together with other EVS organziations from Portugal  awareness campaigns, educational projects, educational and informative material and environmental camps.

Through the project want to support  various aspects related to volunteers…
– personal growth: they’re going to develop personal projects(workshops, events, etc.), support and promote the Erasmus+, support local and international projects.
– social: connected with the volunteering work in all the differente social groups such as elderly, kindergarden kids, local schools, youngsters, disabeld people,etc. The aim is to social inclusion of those groups (orphans, elderly and disabled people) in normal life and take care of their mental and physical health through variety kind of activities.
– environmental: trainings  about sustainable consume, healthy lifestyle, ecofriendly  approaches in order to have futere multiplayers of this life style e.g promote implamentation of the activities with the kids in an outdoor contest.

Practical arrangements

ACCOMMODATION – Volunteers will be accommodated in an apartment in the hosting city, nearby a main place of the activities. The place is well equipped with rooms, bathroom, and kitchen. In some cases, volunteers will need share rooms–double rooms (to be established). Volunteers are allowed to have guests for free (accommodation) – if agreed with a Receiving Organization. All duties related to sharing a common flat will be shared among volunteers (washing the dishes, planning etc).

POCKET MONEY – Volunteers will receive from the Receiving Organization 150,00 euros per month.

FOOD – There will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner from Monday till Saturday (optional: vegan, vegetarian etc.). Volunteers will receive 35,00 euros per month for meals on Sundays.

TRAVEL EXPENSES – Volunteers can get a reimbursement up to 360,00 euros.

LOCAL TRANSPORT: There is no need for local trasport monthly tickets. If needed, the organization will provide public transport tickets or bikes for specific activities (e.g. in Porto).

WORKING HOURS: Volunteers will be working 30-35 hours a week. They will have free Saturdays and Sundays and 2 days off per month.

SUPPORT, SAFETY, RISK PREVENTION – During the project, there will be mentor and coordinator responsible for volunteers’ activities and practical arrangements. The coordinator will concentrate on the project, final timeframe of activities, evaluation, communication and reporting methodsssed. Each EVS volunteer will benefit from mentor and coordinator services.
